"WHITE SANDS" by James Barber
A brief summer thunderstorm having passed, and with the temperature dropped about 20 degrees, made this serene scene at White Sands National Monument a special moment for the photographer. The sand is actually a light brown in color, and the gypsum sand actually developed a crunchy surface after the rain. The dune field covers 275 square miles of the Tularosa desert and is located just west of Alamogordo, New Mexico.
James Barber currently resides in northwestern Arkansas, the Natural State.
